Define "better". Secure: Wired. Speed: Wired. Convenient: Wireless. Cheap to install: Wireless. Now, let me tell you a story... I once worked under contract for four years with a major international corporation that built a new campus and decided to give everyone a laptop and docking station. They felt they would recoup the initial investment when time came to move people to new workstations. All they had to do was pick up and redock their laptops at their new desk. The reality was that people rarely moved, certainly not with a frequency to justify the initial cost. Then there was the added disadvantage that individuals began hooking adapters to the ethernet cable rather than the docking station so they could create their own wifi and carry their laptops to meetings, etc. These mini wifi's were not secure and you could drive around the campus logging onto the corporate network and hacking it with no difficulty.
