This guy was a trip, the legend was the Brits, his own people, hanged him at Newgate after the Revolution for counterfeiting, plus, he's the one who actually hanged Capt Nathan Hale, which was why Gen Washington hanged Man John Andre, pretty.much...I'd seen a newspaper.if the period, listing his obituary as being of "infamous memory"...he also tore up Jake's letters.to his family.and friends so no one would know he'd been hanged as a hero...he was seriously that bad, I've been DYING to see him done right on film for YEARS...I can never quite figure out who should.play the moron, though...Charles Laughton, I'd have thohght, would've been lerfect....
