The frightful cost of a funeral is one reason more folks choose cremation.

I've donated my body to a medical school. The arrangements have already been made. When the school is done with the corpse, it will be cremated and the remains sent to the nearest Vet's cemetery.

Side note: I am happy that you are directly donating your body to medical school after eventual passing. Unfortunately, there are commercial brokers who sell bodies to school s for large profits.

LTC Eugene Chu - I got the paperwork started thru the hospice where my wife died. A couple pages of fill in the blanks, 2 witness signatures & off it went to the U of MS medical school A few weeks later I got a confirmation letter & a wallet card.

SSG Dennis R. I commend you, I have looked at the same situation, and have intentions to do it myself, having two chronic health issues. I have talk to my two Specialists about it, and they are going to look into see if it (my body)would be used towards my specific issues.

I was not much concerned about what to do with my remains. I said to just toss my old carcass out on some mountain top and let the critters have at it, but the wife vetoed that idea. (besides it is probably illegal in most if not all states.)
She wants us to be buried beside each other, so we agreed on cremation and will be buried at a VA cemetery, side by side.
