I think this may be good news SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL that the World War I Centennial Commission has selected a final design for a memorial to the Great War in Washington, D.C., that will feature an open plaza of bas-relief panels, freestanding sculptures and green space.
The one questionable aspect to me is that Joe Weishaar who designed the memorial says deign the exalts “humanity and the human spirit over the glorification of war.”
I would hope that the memorial would celebrate those who fought for freedom in WWI similar to the Korean War memorial. I hope the names of each USA service person who was killed in WWI are included somewhere in the memorial similar to the Vietnam War wall memorial.
