Actually closer to 1000 men died. The English erected a great monument to it and have one of the recovered tanks. The decision to quickly clamp down for security reasons was followed TOO CLOSELY. Had casualties on D-Day been in the thousands, then Tiger would have been released. But as the death toll was quite modest (considering), the decision was made to bury the incident.
