Capt Dwayne Conyers "Oy Mate, What Say You, We Pop Down to the Pup and Have a Pint". 4 Years as a Guest of Her Majesty's Government, 3 Years in London, 1 Year in Diego Garcia. "Overpaid, Oversexed and Overhere" Due to the Concerns and How that Looked during WWII, Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) After then said US Military Would Not Wear Uniforms in London. So for the Most Part we Worked in Civilian Suit and Tie. Once a Week or maybe it was Once a Month We Would Bring Our Uniform in with Us and change once we were at work. I Remember.

I remember a TDY to London PO1 William "Chip" Nagel when the Libyans were shooting people from the windows of their embassy. Not sure if that is the era you were referring to... but we escaped that nonsense down in Sheffield.
