Hmm...
While i don’t believe Xi has any altruistic motives for his power grab, i also don’t see any other way for China to move forward.
As an analogy, compare this to the consolidation of the warring kingdoms under the firdt emperor. In this case, the warring kingdoms part being played by the various corrupt and corrupting factions playing their parts in industry, commerce, foreign trade, military contracts, etc etc ad infinitum.
Xi already controls the military. By bringing EVERYTHING under one unified (and perpetual) rule & policies, it gives China the opportunity to move into the 21st century & beyond with a coherent vision for the future.
Let’s not forget that the term limits have only been in effect since Deng Xao Ping... 40 years or so. The blink of an eye.
So what will happen? We shall see. If i bresk out the old (cracked & cloudy) crystal ball, i see positive growth & expansion for China. I also see a reduction of US influence on the world stage.
The question now becomes; does this lead to conflict & possibly war with the US, or can we reach a mutually beneficial accommodation?
