SPC Jenna Bisenius You are correct. Wahhabism is a fundamental form of Islam started by
Mohammad ibn Abd-al-Wahhab. He in fact make a pact with Muhammed bin Saud to establish this form of Islam in Saudi Arabia, which helped to establish Saudi Arabia as a state. The agreement was a pact between the two that they would establish this form of Islam, giving one family control over religious matters and the other control of political matters. Thereby avoiding confrontation between the two. It provided the Saudi Arabia as a country the means for expansion. It was/is a form of power sharing between the two families. In fact this relationship has continued until today. The Abd-al-Wahhab now known as the Al ash-Sheikh still lead the ulama in Saudi Arabia. Note that this is the National Religion of Saudi Arabia until today.
