That is interesting SGT (Join to see). When I first read the title of your post, I was thinking that as service members we serve at the pleasure of national leadership and go where we are sent to because we tend to be disciplined service members.
Bowe Bergdahl was not a disciplined soldier unfortunately for his comrades in arms. Unlike the bulk of us, he chose to march to his own drum which was disastrous for many.

He was a PFC who's many function would have been to pay attention and do what he was told.

How did that sap sucker make SGT. E-5? He received all of his back pay, then was upgraded to SGT.E-5 and a hell of a raise by that happening. Never will understand why Obama handled it the way he did.
