His problem was revealing the inter workings of Hillary’s campaign and the DNC. That can not be forgiven by the left. Could backfire on them, depending on what gifts he comes bearing. The new AG will not be trying to hide Hillary’s crimes.

My understanding of publishing law, is making stolen information public is not against the law. Stealing the information is illegal. One must prove Assange actively engaged in the initial theft.
A gray area of the law is judging if extraordinary financial gain influenced publication. A journalist has a right to earn a "normal" salary. But, if a journalist was paid a lot of money by a questionable source, who also was involved in the theft, a case can be made of being a third party accessory after the fact.

This puts me in mind of the Daniel Elsberg case and the Pentagon Papers. Were the documents that Assange published actually"stolen". If they were improperly classified, they were in fact, public documents. The public may reasonably profit from their publication if they serve to help bring criminals to justice.

CPT Jack Durish - Some were, I suppose. Stolen may be a strange word for it.
Bradley Manning's information was "stolen" in that it was improperly removed from a classified environment and then leaked.
