The last Czar of Russia and the rest of the Romanov family in pictures. I wonder if the had any idea they would soon be murdered? They have been sainted as martyrs by the Russian Orthodox Church.

I think you are right. They were waiting for the royals in England, their cousins, to get them to safety. Britain was afraid communism would spread there and did not allow them entry.

The Kaiser offered them sanctuary. There was a cause in the Brest-Litosk treaty that called for the Tsars safe passage to Europe. That's why the Bolsheviksame killed them.
