Nice article, but it focused just on the European front. Hybrid war existed in Asia with Marine Corps island campaigns, Navy battles along with regular forces and guerrillas fighting Japanese

Thanks for the article. I was disappointed in the lack of good analysis of the operational aspects of war impacting the tactical aspects, but I realize that was not his point. His point was to drive home there can often be a faulty link from operational to tactical levels.

When I read about wars, I want to read about the Strategic, Operational, and Tactical facets. To me, Germany's greatest weakness was attacking and controlling too large of an area. In light of this, Germany would never have enough operational assets to win WWII.

Germany had a large mechanized force but relied heavily on horse and carts for the logistics. It is true German tanks were easy to break down and often had to be shipped to Germany for repairs. The horse and cart logistics in the middle of the Russian winter was not a very good concept.
