I know every MOS is different and governed by DA PAM 600-25. But I would like to hear from our Senior NCOs and Officers on what key positions or duties are a must for NCOs to have on their resume.

When I was younger, I was convinced that I would be passed by my peers due to a lack of special duty assignments, but in reality, it did not hurt me at all. I think what is really important is how you perform in the assignments you are given. Leadership positions are always the best, but no matter where you are, be the best that you can be!

I would have to say leadership time (ie Squad Leader, Section Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant). Nominative assignments show diversity, but you need to ensure that you have your leadership time.

I second that. Variety is important (staff time and/or special assignments) but never at the expense of leadership positions (at least for the majority of MOSs).

KD is what you are looking for. So as MSG Stankovich said: team leader, squad leader, section/platoon sergeant, first sergeant, and CSM. You also want to ensure that you have additional duties such as EO, SHARP, MRT, etc. to show that you can handle more than one thing at a time. This also makes you more valuable to your next assignment.
