I enjoyed the read LTC.
Do you remember during the winter Olympics rioting began in Kiev? A few months later there were 20,000 Russian troops on the Ukrainian border. Were the riots to keep Russian troops at home? I noticed, all those para military groups had no insignia and commicated by letters. A lot of Ukrainians begged Russia in come into Ukraine.
Russian history shows they will fight for what they feel is theirs and pull back until they can use winter to their advantage.
The Jehadi community? I suppose, one could argue within the Ummah is a % that will murder for Su'en. It is an order from Muhammad to do so for a Caliphate. Which was their propaganda?
The article states clearly how to attack ISIS in the field. But, if we do not attack the ideology behind ISIS, AQ, Hizbolla, Hamas... we will fight forever.
We can not win a war physically Sir. We tried that in Vietnam and COIN does not work in countries that have a religion and political system as one. The population is brain washed.
Why are we so politically correct all the time? Take the gloves off. We are at war Sir.

Well..... there was a Russian propaganda offensive.. and its pretty easy to see it these days vs the real picture of Ukraine. Its more interesting to see just how ineffective it is in the Ukraine when the Russians use mainstream media (though it is effective outside of Ukraine because others do "buy" into believing the propaganda) and how taht facor changes when it is social media. The majority of Ukrainians are not Russians... and that percentage falls even more so when you exclude the areas that the Russians control.

We can not win a war on the defensive.. nor can we win campaigns in the war. We must attack the ideology and be willing to back those who pose the greatest danger to such enemies. And yet... we still have not done so.

LTC Eric Udouj - I understand the propaganda Sir. I think it is thick on both sides. For example: Islam is a religion of peace. Those inguaged in Islamic terrorist attacks are radicals. We are misleading/lying to people on purpose hoping to keep a lid on the situationSir. IMO.

I get where your coming at - and yet I still split the insurgency from Islam itself in my view of them. I do not hold a religion to that which has been appropriated from it - or hijacked by the jihadis any more than I hold any of the other insurgencies or terrorists using a religion as their claim. But the lid fell off the teapot a while back..

"Like the Monroe Doctrine, Eurasianism also gives Russia the justification to reassert itself in its periphery and intervene when necessary to protect its Russian-speaking “compatriots abroad”. This supposed need to protect a threatened Russian minority formed the main pretext for all Russian intervention in Ukraine."
Jaim and Cassey are not being 100% honest here and are misleading the reader.
As I have stated before, from a source from that area of the world, more than a minority in Ukraine see themselves as Russians.
Yes, Russia starved Ukraine in the early part of the 20th century and made it theirs. That blame can not be placed on Putin. Anymore than the blame of slavery in these United States can be placed on me. Also, Katherian the Great kicked the Turks (Muslims) out of the northern Black sea for raping and taking slaves. So, it has been Russian since what? 1730? I would have to look it up. BTW, who, or what group started that mess in Kiev that caused 20,000 Russian troops to be placed on Ukraine's eastern border? Who funded it and why? It sure kept Russian troops home. Didin't it?
ISIS. The JV team per DaOne.
There would have not been a Sunni Caliphate had we not sided with the Shia. How much of Iraq is now in the hands of Iran? Are they any better than ISIS?
ISIS is global. It makes the KKK and Black Panthers look like child's play. It stems for their perfect man who raped, murdered and took slaves (wow, just like ISIS) to form a Caliphate. The Sunni think the Shia are Apostates. So, we are involved in a religious civil war.
The Mosques, Maddrassas and jails we let Imams preach in send fresh blood to Iraq and Syria to continue the fight. Even after we blow the s*** out of them. As long as we do not take the narritive, including online, we can not defeat them. Only in the field can we stop them.
So, what is going to happen? How many ISIS members have been in the iinvasion caravans on the US souther border? Which Mosques and Imams are helping support them?
I have nothing but respect for you LTC. But these two Gumbas that worte this article need to get dirty in the field. Not sit around in the AC reading and taking a spot of Tea.
Just so everyone is clear. There is no home grown Islamic terrorist, or Lone Wolf attacks. These so called extremists are not acting alone, nor are they extremists. The only extremists within Islam are those not following Muhammad's orders to make war with the Infidel and Jew while yelling my god of the Kaaba is greatest when cutting off your head.
Happy 4th of July Sir. I hope you will not be around crowds, or large cities.

I gather from this note that what you are saying is that we are just passing players in the Civil War.... and i concur to that. Many great powers have been... just they never were able to see that - since focus was always internal..... and so the Russians have been for hundreds of years. Its an interesting way of looking at it -- one that steers the ship on a different course. Hope yours is a fine 4th Mark!
