What can I start doing now, as a private, to prepare to drop a green to good packet next year? Any advice or knowledge is helpful! I’m currently in school for my associates in pre-nursing, will be done next spring.

Do your best on your army physical fitness test. The new test is going to be a challenge but the old tests it was easier to get a higher score. If you are still using the older test, then try to score at least a 270 on your APFT. Continue on your Land Navigation practice. Map and compass Sirius

"green to good" sp- Green to Gold. Work on your Army writing and see if there is any mentorship that can be gained through your unit LTs that recently went through the program. Keep studying hard!

Look at the school you want to attend during the program, make sure theyll accept you as a junior.

Get going on your packet now, its a very lengthy and detailed process, things wont happen the way they should and it will require time to fix it.

Make sure your medical records are straight and acquire a hard copy.

Start asking for LOR from everyone you know, the more the better (E6 and above).

Score 300 on APFT.
Have a 3.0 or better with school.
Go to hooah schools if possible (airborne, air assault, ranger.)

Biggest thing is not to procrastinate. No one will make sure your packet goes through at 100% except for YOU!
