Former historical U.S. Army Officer Branch and Enlisted Rank chart prior to 1966. The chart list the three major badges. The Army Aviators Wings, Airborne Jump Wings and the Combat Infantry Badge. Check out the former Army Warrant Officer Rank. The WAC Woman’s Army Corps Branch is listed on the chart. Check out the Specialist Ranks. SP-4, SP-5, SP-6 and SP-7.

The Army was much more simple back then. Today’s U.S. Army Uniform is filled with so many extra badges and ribbons that Soldiers from the WWII era and prior to WWII would scoff at. I remember coming home from West Germany in 1985 and was asked by a WWII Veteran what was all those colored ribbons on the bottom of my ribbon rack? I shared with the WWII Veteran that the three ribbons he was asking about, was....the Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon, and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon. The WWII Veteran said, “What?” Stating, “You mean to tell me the Army is issuing ribbons to Soldiers just because they serve in the Army, serve on an Overseas Tour and attend an Army NCO School?” All I could reply back with was, “Yes Sir.”

As they always said at FA Schools "Time passes, weather changes and Sh$& happens". It's amazing even now the Army hands out even more ribbons, medals for being there then even in our early time in the 80's
