Yeah, well...I'd read at some point that, though the prose of the letter was clearly brilliant as well as highly and clearly emotionally evocative, as the whole Saving Private Ryan film made such a thing of, also, obv, Lincoln, I'd read, some time back, apparently made some sort of mistake as to the total number of sons lost, or something like that...I can't quite recall exactly what the error was, if I get a chance, I'll try to look it up, if I can find it again...Lincoln clearly had some sort of near-ethereal gift and/or capacity for writing such prose, apparently (a la the Gettyburg Address, the Emancipation Proclamation, or both of his inaugural speeches, as main cases in point)...though, of course, the whole Saving Private Ryan story was totally overblown, as well as completely overdone, and, also, historically bollixed up and/or Hollywoodized, as I'd learned later, based on the family in upstate NY, one of their sons having actually been removed from combat by a Catholic chaplain, not some who squad led by Tom Hanks, of course...though, obv, nobody cares about such petty details and/or picayune minutiae except me, in all likelihood...I just figured I'd mention that, just to assure all of you I'm entirely aware of that aspect, as well, by all means....
