I served from 81-84 as a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Dix. Here are some of the pictures I could find from that time. I hated Dix. It had been on the closure list for a long time and there were no funds for maintenance of quarters. And their BS rules about running an A/C in your quarter was so totally asinine. Dix was a dying installation. My next door neighbor woke up one night to a loud sound and his refrigerator in his kitchen and fallen through the floor. All the quarters were termite and cockroach infested. It was the only installation I departed from that my house hold goods had to have an environmental health inspection for bugs. I loved the duty, but the post was the worst I ever served on.

Did basic there in Jan-March ‘72 (A-1-2). Then stayed for OJT MP, and unit assignment (412 MP Co, 759 MP BN).

I went through Basic Training at Ft Dix from August - October 1984, assigned to C-1-3. My drill sergeants were SSG Joseph Bennett and SGT T. Penniston. My platoon was SSG Bennett's last cycle. It would be great to get in touch with him and anybody from my platoon. I can't believe it's been 35 years since I went through BT.
