Had the honor of riding with my American Legion Riders from Post 178 and Post 22 to provide a Dignified Transfer/Escort this morning starting at Palmer Lake Road, Palmer Lake, CO and up I-25 and on into Lakewood to the Green Mountain Christian Church, 10700 W. Exposition Dr., Lakewood, CO.
It was 28 degrees this morning and we were all dressed warm - I'm in the second picture with my red helmet still on and the visor up.
We were provided with Federal Protection Agency (FPA) escort all the way to Lakewood, CO with each town's Fire Departments and Police Departments standing at attention saluting with huge American Flags flying high as we passed under each overpass in a number of towns and cities on our way up to Lakewood, CO. The support was amazing for this young Marine taken to early in life.
We reached the Church and 25 plus riders joined the Patriot Guard and line of Flags as the flag drapped casket was removed from the Black hearse by a six (6) sharply dressed Marine Detail. We all came to attention like we were still serving in the military and rendered the proper salute as the American Flag Draped casket was moved into the church!
Mission Complete - "Respect Always - Warriors for Life!"
The Federal Protection Agency along with Riders from the American Legion providied a Dignified Honors Motorcade for Cpl Erin Lilley-Fogle from Colorado Springs to the memorial services being held at Green Mountain Christian Church 10700 W Exposition Dr, Lakewood Colorado.
Cpl Erin Lilley-Fogle of the United States Marine Corps. was killed when she stopped to help a car on the side of the road and was struck and killed by another car. She was stationed at Parris Island in South Carolina and is from Colorado Springs. Today would have been her 24th birthday.
She had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War of Terrorism Service Medal. She was to begin serving as the Administrative Assistant to the Base Commander and will be awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal posthumously.
May Cpl Erin Lilley-Fogle Rest in Peace and let us all thank her for her service to a greatful nation!
