I used to give a lecture about the brain, and in it I included how unique it is for you to even be here ...on Earth. The general odds, are basically 1 in 400 trillion, which, is well, a big number. And it is based on your particular combination of genes, the fact that your family line lived long enough for you to be born, and that your parents met (even if briefly) to make you.
But that number isn't actually big enough. It is a rough generalization because the biology and statistical categories make that number much much bigger. But still, one in 400 trillion is pretty convincing that you are a miracle.
In the Q and A, after the lecture, one guy said:
"So what are the odds of all the women ever born, I marry and then divorce the biggest bitch to ever live?"
The audience roared. Until a Woman yelled out:
"What are the chances that she married the biggest prick to ever live?"
Another roar. And I think they forgot my point.
