If you ever go to West Virginia, and are on 77 ...take a lunch break at the Tamarac Rest Area. Not only is the food great since they train the Chef's for the Five Star Greenbriar Hotel there, but they take things built by Local Craftsman and offer them for sale. And man oh man, we are talking about Master Level Artisans here! That's the building behind me. And the other pictures are the kinds of things they have for sale.
And wouldn't you want one of those Steam Punk Lamps?
Or those Quilts?
Or...well, do you play an instrument? Then take a gander at the these one of a kind instruments.
Or...how about a wooden chain saw?
And there is more there than I posted in these pictures. Expensive items to be sure, but the level of craftsmanship, and artistry on display...it is worth it.
Everything is hand made. You can easily spend an hour or two just browsing the displays. The building is a circle, so you do end up back where you started.

Lots of talent out there in those hills and hollers. Some of them have been passing down skills for generations, in quilting, wood carving, and metal work. A good lunch, things to see, and a heck of a conversation starter for when you get back in your car. Good old West Virginia has lots of talent.
