So a couple of Sergeants mentioned how much bigger they were when they got out of AIT. So many of us went into Basic Training at 120 or less. Only to come out of AIT at 145...or more. I went in at 116 pounds. I looked exactly like I did in the picture of me with my old girl. Just a skinny wire like guy.
The second picture of me is right out of AIT at my first Permanent Party Base. And I was up to 143 pounds. 27 pounds heavier...and none of it fat. I would be in my fifties before I changed that. I might have gotten carried away because I am now exactly 100 pounds heavier than that first picture.
My sister asked my brother's when I got home from AIT: "What is wrong with Kevin's legs They are all swollen."
They laughed.
"That's muscle, Janie."
And I guess it was! Thanks Army!

116...yikes!! I went in at around 170 or so, came out 3 decades later at 185, but still under the screening limit for weight!
