I din't want this post to start anything...so I skipped the most obvious cartoons about Science and Belief. Instead I chose this cartoon because it is funny to me that now she wants to talk to an expert Scientist.
One of my buddies just retired, and he was a Top Geneticist (Discovered the Couch Potato Gene, and the resistance to exercise gene that affects some humans). I told him that my belief is, that beliefs trump everything. If you believe it to be "true" it is "true." He agreed.
I asked him how you can tell the difference between a Scientific minded individual and a person who has Beliefs. He smiled.
"Kevin, if you ask a Layman, or person sure of their beliefs, what could change your mind, they will answer: "Nothing!"
That is pure Belief.
If you ask a Scientist, in a particular Field, what would it take to change their minds- they can tell you exactly. This data, this experiment, this result. If you present them with evidence or data and they are repeatable by someone who doesn't know you...and they get the same result , or data...then they discard their previous Belief. "
For me, one of the strangest , yet most powerful beliefs...is love. I have loved before. and I was sure it would never end. Yet it did.
And I learned to love again. One of my buddies says you can love anyone, if several things happen: they are good people, you spend a lot of time with them, and you trust them. And if they were friends first, then it a grow into a deeper relationship...maybe even True Love.
So some beliefs are arbitrary ...no matter how many facts, data, experiments, or results you get. And others...well, they just feel right. LOL

Even people who tell you they believe in nothing...believe in something.

@kevin Hughes I am not sure I understand the graphic but I understand what you are saying.

Is the graphic showing if the alligator bites her foot, can the herpetologist reattach it verses creation growing it back? I am killing the punch line!

Most of the cartoons I checked were all about Religion Versus Science...and I did not want to use those as examples.

Oh, and I will listen to your Classical Music Posts in the Morning. Kathy is sleeping right now...and I didn't want to wake her. So I will comment on those tomorrow!
