LTC Vindman retires, was he right or wrong? What about the second and third order effects?
Aside from the usually partisan (and superficial) comments regarding LTC (R) Vindman, is there a lesson to be learned here? We had a sitting US senator holding up promotion for 1000 senior officers to allow for his promotion. Whistleblowing. Polarizing politics and the politicalization of the military seems to be here for the duration. While the retired could easily just take pot shots from Ft. Living Room, here's my question. How can currently serving members truly remain apolitical? In a world where one callus post can end your career, use some judgment if you elect to weigh in. Was he right? Would you have done the same? Was he dead wrong?

He thought he could make it up and be protected by the Military..and he almost did until he admitted during his rambling speech that he wasn't actually there..he had zero first hand evidence and that he lied..

Vindman intentionaly lied to congress - 2019 Oct. 29 deposition, LTC Vindman was asked by "Adam B. Schiff" about military aide sent to Ukraine. Vindman testified - “Under the previous administration, there was a, I’m aware of the transfer of a fairly significant number of Javelins, yes,” - lie as that never happened. Obama never sent anything other than support aid - all was none lethal.
LTC Vindman was assigned to the Joint Chiefs in late 2017 when the Trump administration made the decision to send the first Javelins to Ukraine. The first delivery of lethal aide happened in the spring of 2018. LTC Vindman arrived at the White House that July. So the guy making claims about risks to national security had either no clue what aid was actually sent to Ukraine by either administration or he lied - yet he's was the Ukraine expert at the NSC?
As to claims about improper call due to political rival claims - is Hunter a political rival? If so seems Hunter's business dealing while his father was VP would and should have been considered a clear conflict of interest. Might need to look into what father and son where doing to make sure Ukraine can't blackmail US into getting into WWIII with Russia yet again he's the Ukraine expert in the NSC.

He was dead wrong and disloyal. Then proven to be a liar. He should have been court martial, He was the whistleblower in my opinion.

He was not a whistleblower so 100% wrong. He was a political activist in uniform pushing ideological beliefs but was protected as he served the political collectivist cause. He broke multiple articles of UCMJ and was shielded from repercussions because of the cause he serves currently has the backing of an entrenched bureaucracy.

An update. Vindman gave an interview to Heritage Foundation saying that he did what he did because Trump didn't respect the "career" people and he wanted to help Biden get elected by besmirching Trump. Said if they hadn't impeached him, he would have found another way.

This LTC got what he deserved. Even before all of this FUBAR, servicemembers especially those in the Senior ranking bracket (whether Commissioned or Nooncommisioned) have turned into a political/ PC environment that is indeed very detrimental to the Armed Forces than anything else. Even during my tenure as an SSG I always asked those seniors asking me questions whether they want it my shot from the hip answer or the Politically Correct version. Needless to say, I always called it as I saw it, nothing more and nothing less.

I remember waiting in the SRP line, senior OIC pacing up and down the queue ranting about the "morons" who voted "Libtard," bragging loudly about her boyfriend who flew her to local conservative rallies in his private plane. Her NCOIC scampered at her heels like a pet, agreeing exuberantly. I am neither a Democrat nor a Libtard, and I found their behavior disgraceful.

I am curious too. I mean, I have no doubt that there are forces trying to destroy America. And those forces are constantly undermining the Constitution in different ways. I am interested in knowing what forces Vindman stood up to and how specifically those "forces" were trying to "destroy America".
