Independence Day (United States)
The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
The Declaration of Independence was a document drafted by Thomas Jefferson that declared the 13 American colonies independent from British rule and established the United States of America as a new nation.
The Fourth of July is celebrated with parades, fireworks, concerts, barbecues, and other festivities across the country. It is a day that represents American patriotism, independence, and freedom, and is a symbol of the values and principles that the United States was founded upon.
