Good morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to this edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) for February 26, 2025.
Do you see the Einstein Ring (look closely at the center of the galaxy)? The ring is formed when light from a source (galaxy or star) passes by a massive object (e.g. another galaxy) en route to an observer. Gravity from the massive object (the 'lens') diverts the light, making it seem to come from a different place. When the source, lens, and observer are all in perfect alignment (that's where the term 'syzygy' originates), the light appears as a ring.
The existence of Einstein rings was first predicted by Einstein himself in 1912 before his general theory of relativity was published (in 1916). The prediction was confirmed in 1998 by researchers from the University of Manchester and NASA (the Hubble Space Telescope). The European Space Agency (ESA) Euclid Space Telescope captured this image in 2023.

There's So MUCH Cool STUFF Out There,
If I Lived Forever, I'd Not See 1/2 Of It !

I am amazed when I get my check book balanced. I can not imagine what Einstein’s and other people of their intelligence are like. The things they predicted 100 years ago we see the proof of today. The universe is amazing.

Although I'm Now An 80 Year Ole Codger, And In Business For Over 27 Years,
I Have NEVER Balanced A Check Book In My Business Nor Personal Accounts.
In Business I'd Make An Occasional Deposit But NOT Record It In The Check Book.
In My Personal Account, If I Though I Might Be Running Short, I'd Call The Bank;
If I WAS Short, It'd Write Myself A Pay Check From The Business Account.
When I Sold The Business & Closed The Accounts, I Had About $15,000 More
Than I Though I Might Have Had. My BONUS For Being The Cheap SOB I Knew I Was.

It Sure Is. When I Look At The Photographs & Read The Articles,
It Takes My Breath Away And My Butt Puckers-Up Too,
