Thugs with no values shot him for no reason. We should all be aware that life can change in an instant. We should all pray for him and not accept this proclamation that he will not walk again.

I agree, but most of that relies on the determination of the individual. If he or she thinks that they will never walk again, they simply wont. Not because they can't but simply by thinking that they never will. Those who have a strong will and strong determination can do everything they can think of to try and walk again, and if they do, great, but if they don't, at least they can say that they tried.

Either way, it happened and it is still a tragedy. I hope the dirtbag that did it finds himself in the company of some men who still have respect for OUR veterans.

Everyone has already covered what I would say, however there is something kind of nagging at me. Is it me or are there some discrepancies with his uniform? The flash is oddly shaped and he is wearing Specialist rank on it. Also, his DUI on his epaulettes seem to be odd. He also appears to be wearing a Distinguished Service Medal beneath his Good Conduct Medal. I know sort of trivial since he got shot but it's just something I noticed. Do you all see what I am seeing or am I off simply mistaken?

COL Jean (John) F. B. - Sir thanks for the clarification. With this pic, are we allowed to make all the 2nd or 1st LT jokes? Can't really do that to a COL. By that time, we assume you've finally found your way.

SSG Warren Swan - No problem, buddy... There were certainly a lot of things about me as a LT (and later, unfortunately) that people could poke fun at.

I have related this before, but will repeat it here, as it is appropriate to the discussion. My Platoon Sergeant, PSG Benjamin J. Burgess, a great NCO and mentor of mine, once told me that I would "be a great general one day". When I inquired why he thought that, he did not miss a beat and stated, " I have known and observed a great many generals in my career and they all had some quirk. You have a lot of them, LT." Boy, did he ever have me pegged... LOL :-)

COL Jean (John) F. B. - Well you have to admit, you got well within spitting distance of that star. So you definitely found your way. Not sure how flag promotions work and does MOS come into it. Being a fellow Mud Puppy might turn a few selecting officers off....how many tickets did your troops give them/theirs?

SSG Warren Swan - Even the Army does not have good enough sense of humor to have promoted me to general officer. :-)

Since this horrible thing happened, the Mayor and Police Chief Sam Dotson said they are going to "beef up security".... there is going to be "unlimited" overtime authorized.

Typical case of a "reactive response" when this may have been avoided by some "proactive" measures. Let's look at a statement made by a St Louis public official:

"Unless you’re engaged in a lifestyle that’s going to put you at risk, you’re not going to be the victim of violent crime going to a baseball game. You don’t need to bring your conceal and carry, you don’t need to bring your guns.”

Who made this statement..you ask?

None other then the Police Chief himself.. Sam Dotson

The only life style Chris Sanna was engaged in was "holding down a steady job", where he achieved a "position of responsibility", providing for his family and enjoying a "baseball game" while he and his brothers and girlfriend celebrated his mother's birthday.

I fail to see, the "risk" factor; so according to Dotson, Chris made it to work on Saturday... and this is all a bad dream.... It's Bad alright... and... Unfortunately it's NO dream!
