Should the Army continue giving Soldiers 90 minute lunches?

To be fair, I loved taking 90 minute lunches when I was a junior Soldier. Now that I am in charge of a mission, I hate them! I have to lose productivity for 90 minutes??? That's ridiculous! <br><br>Funny how we change our opinions of things when we advance...<br><br>What do you think? Is 90 minutes too long? Too short? Goldilocks?<br><br>Not talking about combat operations here, just garrison. I don't know

Plus, civilians on post don't care about our need to get back to work. When I was active duty, I couldn't get hardly ANYTHING done during lunch because of all the dependapotomi clogging up the lines. The ONLY thing I could get done was a haircut.

1SG (Join to see) in the civilian world, most companies give 30 minutes. I haven't had an hour or longer lunch since I ETS'd....in the early 90's

pfft 90 minute Lunch DAYUM we only got 30-45 minutes Top. that was at Ft. Stewart, Ga. that was to get to Chow Hall and Back to Motor Pool or Battalion HQ.

I'm getting a kick out of a lot of the "Back in my day" stories.
Back in my day we had 5 minutes to run the 5 miles to the chow hall, uphill, grab an apple, and be back in Dress Uniform for special pt!
90 minute lunches in the Army allow time for the Soldiers to get to chow (whether it be the chow hall or food court, etc...) stand the 20-30 minutes in line, eat, and come back to work. It also allows for people to get small things done...today on my lunch I ran to the bank, did a short run, showered, changed back into uniform, and ate my lunch in my car as I awaited a mandatory 1 hr SHARP stand down training.
If anything is hampering "productivity" it's all of the mandatory training that gets thrown at us.

Hey Marines... is it just me, or are any of you having mental meltdowns over the comments about how long chow takes?
USMC mess halls= 15 minutes from door to do on training bases, and on such bases as Cherry Point and Lejeune... Chow line, Slider line, or the wonderful sub shop near the Commisary... of course now, that includes, or so I hear, McDonalds, Burger King or the equivlent thereof.
The main thing is, you just don't slow the line in a USMC chow hall. You point, you nod thanks and you stuff it in... to do otherwise means that you learned nothing at Parris Island!
