The Reason Wood Prices Are Completely Out of Control

There's been a lot of talk on the price/availability of wood recently. In My community there are new houses and neighborhoods being built and the Houses are selling before they are completed. Across the US Highway that My residential area feeds into, for the last 20+ years has been a large salvage yard. It'll be a neighborhood by next winter. There hasn't been any kind of Industrial infrastructure growth that would account for it. It appears to be lots of people leaving where they are now and moving this way. Many of whom are trying to become homesteaders and "Gentleman" farmers. Without a clue as how to accomplish it. Currently it's great for the local economy. I can see it causing problems in the not to distant future. I'm afraid that all the folks moving here, with Their big dreams, are going to find out that the job market, if they want more than minimum wage, isn't all that great. One of the largest employers in the area makes carpet pieces for automobile interiors, and is not aligned with UAW. There are some smaller industrial facilities that pay well, but You have to know or be related to somebody. This is a one High School county, as are the surrounding Counties. I'm happy for the folks getting out of bad situations. Before You run away, be sure of where You're running to.
