I thought about this question this morning. No,not this post. I thought, if Obama says we are safe in this country, why does he have so many Secret Service Agents surrounding him? Secret service have always protected our country's leaders, but Obama has an extraordinarily amount of SS, here in the states and when he travels abroad. The reason? Obama has been threatened 14-15 times since 2008, and has had SS agents since then. Over 100 SS agents travel abroad to protect him.

We,us, citizens, are on our own to protect ourselves and our families. IMO, As long as there are terrorists, we will never be safe anywhere. So, whatever it takes, is my feelings. Not from only terrorists, but from home grown punks that will rob you and kill you in a blink of the eye.

And now to the rest of the story:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama will use his Sunday night address on terrorism to urge the American people not to "give in to fear" after the California shootings, and may ask Congress to take action to further safeguard national security, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said.
Lynch also said that "dealing with guns is one way to handle the violence crime issues that we have in this country."

Any President receives SS protection because as Leader of the free world they automatically inherit a lot of potential enemies abroad and in these times even domestic. So the number of agents protecting this particular President is irrelevant. Not to get into the gun issue, but currently there are some 12,000 people on a no-fly list that are still able to purchase weapons because Congressional Republicans with an assist from the NRA continue to block legislation that seeks to handle this issue.

Actually, according to wikipedia and other sources, there are over 47,000 people on the no-fly list and no one actually knows why many of them are on it. Many obviously shouldn't be. The "terrorism watch list" has over a million. Get some accurate intel and I might be in favor of restricting their gun purchases. Of course that also brings up the problem that we would be taking away their rights without due process which could fill up the courts.

SO the same President who says we are afraid of Widows and Orphans is going to tell us we are safe while one vetted woman just killed 14 Americans and he wants to vet how many more? I don't think so. I'm also surprised he's only been threatened 14 or 15 times, I would thing it would be at least 50 by now. At any rate I no longer listen to his speeches, after all these years if he said it snowed in Alaska I would have to turn on the weather channel to see.....

SFC Everett Oliver, My wife used to balk at me carrying. But now she asks if I'm packing, no matter where we go, and I am, always.

SGT (Join to see) - I have no children that come to our place so I have the luxury of having a weapon in every room. Currently there are 3 loaded pistols and a loaded shotgun in 4 different places in the house. There are 2 short staffs (jo) in different places and I can always use any of about 6 tourist canes from Europe that are scattered about the house.... Not to mention a crossbow and a straight draw bow...But those would be difficult to use in the house....sort of...
