I guess the Democrats are about freedom and personal liberty, being able to choose to work from home or not, if the job allows for it. It appears the other side wants to force, by law, people to show up at a particular place at a particular time for "observation" and "supervision". How about we do the assessment on productivity BEFORE putting laws in place?

And here I thought "conservatives" were against "big government" and overreaching government regulation. I guess that was all an act, or just lip service.

Uhhuh, and meanwhile the overhead costs for the federal governmentcontonue toincrease. We're paying electrical bills, depreciation on equipment and buildings, and there is no accountability for work completed.

I am in month eight of waiting for a copy of both my Marine Corps and Army records. I wonder how many people are telecommuting at the Personnel Archives?

LTC Trent Klug - How much do you think the government would spend trying to enforce this law?

MSgt Steve Sweeney Why are you against eople actually doing work from an office? Why are you okay with the government shelling out money for office space and employees being held accountable?

LTC Trent Klug - I'm not against people doing work from an office, if they want to work from an office. Why would you be against doing a productivity study BEFORE legislating and giving the people the flexibility to work from home if they can? If productivity is slipping, bring the people in that are not producing, or better yet, get rid of the people. And then consider downsizing office space if you don't need it. The overhead cost of space and infrastructure is reduced. Maybe pass on that savings to John Q Taxpayer (riiiiight). I assure you that there is more than one way of skinning a cat and in our modern times one does not necessarily need to be shackled to a specific spot on the earth. Give your people a mission and tell them what needs to be done by when, and avoid telling them how, and where, to do the job, unless the "where" is an integral part of the job. With so much being done in the cyber space these days, the physical "where" becomes much less important. The down side? People may have to actually practice leadership rather than micro-management.

All the data shows that workers are far less productive at home than at the office...so we are going to let them stay home and get paid full salaries?
