Some people loved their high school days. Others did not. Summer is a big time for high school reunions. Would you attend yours? Why or why not? Did you attend one? What was good about it? What, if anything, soured your view of high school reunions? Is there any other reunion you would attend?

having been the tall skinny least athletic kid in the entire school that was picked on for early growth spurt, early voice change, and early acne; I went back for the 5th on leave from the 82d Abn, to hear all of the jocks whisper to each other "don't mess with him he'll kill us"

I only went to 1 reunion and it was a big disappointment. I was one of the people that was never in a social 'clique' or was a 'cool dude'. I made fast tracks out of that little corncrib town and never looked back. At the 25th reunion, I found out the smartest guy in the class (the one I protected from jocks and bullies) had just retired as a full bird USAF intel sort. He noted the mini jump wings, caduceus, and crossed sabers on my lapel and told several of the class assholes who were trying to buddy up on him. "Look at that on John's collar. They don't hand that shit out to anyone."

Nope, any of the people from my high school I would care to see, I already do. I was the smartest guy in the class, back in the days when it wasn't "cool" to be smart so I caught a lot of flack. I went back once about 10 years ago for the funeral of a friend's mother and many of the people didn't even recognize me. They were like, "who is this guy?". And when I told them who I was they were like "No way". Though it is fun to see some of the "big shots" from HS on FB and they are still living in the same small town, working at the same minimum wage job 35 years later.

Didn't go to my 10th (deployed). Didn't go to my 20th (didn't know about it). And probably won't go to my 30th (Indifference). Facebook = Saving $1,000's in class reunions for those that left high school in the rear view mirror.
