Okay, you can see from the date this wasn't a Valentine's Day Card. But I think it captures the mood behind the day. It isn't fancy, it didn't come with any money or a check, it wasn't asked for at all.It just showed up in the mail on a random day.
And isn't that the best way to get a Valentine's thought?

I have a daughter who had married a good Christian guy but the normalization had a bad start.

When my daughter was born and just a few weeks she was missing. Her mom kidnapped her for 15 years. So when she got back to eventually live with me again, her mom was gone, doing her own thing. I guess as Valentine's Days go, I am thankful.

It ALL worked out as her husband treats her well. She is happy, doing well and they bought a house.

What? My profile is a 404? Let me check. It came right up for me. Did I publish something that was against rules or something?

SGT Kevin Hughes I know the feeling that comes with the "small things". My son brings me flowers just because. Today I got beautiful roses and lilies for Valentine's Day. (My son and I know the original history of Valentine's Day - so we acknowledge it in the spirit of loving kindness).

Funny you should mention the origin. As it used to be a Pagan Holiday, and then later, the Catholic Church Canonized St. Valentine - as he was a Martyr. As you already know most Christian Holidays have their roots in one Pagan beginning or another...from Halloween to the Solstices. The Modern Valentine's Day doesn't resemble either of those root causes and I dare say most folks have never heard of St Valentine outside of the Catholic Church...nor of the Pagan Blood sacrifices that preceded his lifetime. I am more in line with the Loving Kindness Modern version ...as commercial as it is. LOL

SGT Kevin Hughes I pretty much choose what I enjoy and how I enjoy it, also. I am one of those people who like to deep dive, for information. I like being in the know about anything.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard - that is exactly why I don't follow a lot of stuff. When you look up what actually was said, or done, it rarely matches the sound bite, or it becomes way more complicated and nuanced than the simple answer someone posted. Then when you finish the deep dive and come back with the actual facts...the person that led you down that rabbit hole just shrugs. They are already onto the next news cycle. And I think that is a major contributor to our current unrest...nobody ponders. They all emotionally react, and move on to quickly to give it any real thought. If it fits what they want the narrative to be, that's all the checking required. So I stopped. (Unless it is science, AI, or the like)

SGT Kevin Hughes this is the "mundane" existence we live in because it is comfortable. The "whole" truth destroys the illusion. The enemy of mankind depends on us being "sleepy heads" because our destruction will be easy.
