More from: "Out of the Mouth of Seniors:"
My neighbor , born and raised down here in Coastal NC- talking to my other neighbor (born and raised in Maine) as they helped each other wipe a foot of snow off of their trucks. I supervised.
I shall use S (for the Southern Guy) and N (for the Northern guy)
N: "I don't know why we are cleaning your truck. You aren't going out in this weather. You guys don't know how to drive in the snow."
S: "Yeah, that's true. But you guys can't Barbecue for shit, and you can't keep the sand out of the crack of your ass at the beach."
N: "Wait. What? There is a way to keep the sand out of the crack of your ass? Tell me how you do that."
S: "Sure, as soon as you tell me how you drive in a foot of snow with ice under it."
I could have listened to those two all day. But...I got cold. Supervising is hard on us old guys.

I grew up in the north, dad would not use snow tires nor chains. I had to learn to drive that way. Never had a major issue driving in the snow.
In Greenville, NC I dumped a heap of snow one year while I was in school. I walked, the NC drivers were all over the place. Cars going straight with the wheels turned right or left with the brakes one. Etc etc.
I choose not to attempt driving in the snow in the south unless it’s an emergency.
Not going to comment on bar-b-que, since I have lived in the south most of my life.

I grew up in Ohio. My Dad did make us all keep a blanket, candles, and a bucket of sand in our trunks for winter. He never got stuck. Sadly, I can't say that. But I have lived in the South (and Hawaii) now for most of my Adult life...so I have lost my snow skills. And you are right, from what I have seen, it is safer to walk!

One of my problems is the only rear wheel drive vehicle is my ‘01 Dodge pickup SGT Kevin Hughes. I have no front wheel drive experience on snow and ice. So, I walk.
