So this is more of an upgrade question here. I am running on an old 11 year old AMD powered gaming rig and want to update my graphics card?

I wanna get something a bit more modern. Currently I am running on an NVIDIA GTX 640 SE and was wanting to get something a bit more powerful while also not spending a boatload of cash. Does anyone have any recommendations?

newegg.com just build a new one using your old case and stuff. new motherboard, processor, ram, power supply and you should be good
I don't even have a separate graphics card and a small build of like $300 can run Skyrim with lots of mods these days

Oh no no, I'm not looking for a fully upgraded PC, I can run what I need to, but I am getting into CAD work so I wanted to get a PC I can both game on AND work with CAD that isn't older than most modern design computers is all

Michael Gilbert - That's what I'am sayin, just throw new guts in, may just even need a new CPU based on your rig. I'd just shop newegg and see what there is for your requirements.

You may also want to consider Jeff's recommendation because CAD is pretty intense and the hardware may not be able to keep up. There may be drivers and such your rig may not be able to install to run CAD.
