A judge is scheduled to consider arguments Thursday in a legal fight over a Confederate monument in Tuskegee.
Circuit Judge Steven Perryman has set a hearing in a lawsuit filed on behalf of Macon County and some residents.
They’re suing the local and state chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The group erected monuments across the South in the early 1900s.
As Alabama News Network has reported, the land in downtown Tuskegee where the monument stands was given to the United Daughters of the Confederacy by the Macon County Commission in 1906 to be used as a park for white people and to allow the monument to be erected.
But county leaders say in the deed, it says that when the park was no longer used for its intended purpose, the land would return to the county’s control. That’s what they believe is the case.

Interesting, we have a similar situation here in Tampa at the intersection of I-4 and I-75. The claimed largest Confederate flag in the world flies there on land owned by The Sons of Confederate Veterans. Courts have ruled that since its on private property its perfectly legal. If the court in Tuskegee finds that the land is still being used as a park for white people there probably isn't much chance of the monument going away.

The reason I rebuttal and put information out is because it’s been to much revisionist history going back to slavery itself to the end of the civil war and on and on .... up to now

“Consider Susan Pendleton Lee’s 1895 textbook, A School History of the United States, in which she declared that although abolitionists had declared slavery to be a “moral wrong,” most Southerners believed that “the evils connected with it were less than those of any other system of labor.” “Hundreds of thousands of African savages,” according to the author, “had been Christianized under its influence—the kindest relations existed between the slaves and their owners.” It should come as no surprise that in her account of Reconstruction, the Ku Klux Klan was necessary “for protection against . . . outrages committed by misguided negroes.”

White Slaves and Black Slave Owners and the extent of African participation in the slave trade has been excluded from most text books, as well as, historical museums and presentations.”
