This is a massive failure of leadership and is squarely on the head of the CofS of the United States Army. This person is a convicted felon, endangered the lives of soldiers with his reckless behavior and was found guilty by Courts Marshall and sentenced appropriately. No where in the contract signed with the United States Military did it explicitly promise this type of care and attention this as a term of agreement. The CofS of the Army has rolled over yet again to PC and we can anticipate that he will do the same in the case of Bergdahl. I am ashamed of this decision and hold it as further evidence that the entire leadership of the DoD is failing the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marine who serve everyday in harms way without the benefit of special treatment. Manning came to the prison as a matter of his own misdeeds. He served as a man, committed treason as a man, was court marshalled as a man he was processed into Levenworth as a man, he should serve his sentence as a man and after he is released -- as a man -- he can seek what ever therapy he/she wishes. We have to stop this madness.

As long as Manning is on our roles, we're responsible for Manning's medical. It's as simple as that.

SN Greg Wright - Then he's been faking it since before he went to jail or committed the crime.

I don't disagree that it's elective. Issue is that it's authorized by law. As long as he's on our roles, makes it our problem.

SN Greg Wright - I don't know many people willing to have their penis converted surgically into a vagina or vice versa just to be housed in a different jail.

LTC (Join to see) - with life in prison? Are you kidding? There's probably lots that'd make that choice.

SN Greg Wright - Manning doesn't have life in prison, she has 35 years, which means will probably do 18.

Also, since she already had won the right to hormone treatment, she is segregated from the male population of the prison already.

We are more screwed up than a football bat. Purely elective and unnecessary surgery and should not be done on the tax payers money, period.

Yes, why do others have to wait and pay on their own while this criminal gets it for free.
