So, here's the context: NVGs are commercially available and legal. Firearms are (still) available, and legal. Hunting is (circumstances depending) still legal. IR lasers are super-dang expensive (and I've heard illegal in some places)! So I was thinking the other day...if you're not worried about an "enemy" seeing an intermittent laser sight, but are trying to be "stealthy" on Nods...would a "regular", low-power red laser "burn out" Gen 1, Gen 2 NVGs from just "bloom" or "bounce back"? Is green a better/worse option? Provided one isn't breaking some obscure law...are there filters (key word, "cheap") that turn visible red/green into IR?

Steiner makes a "relatively" cheap picatinny IR Laser. Cannot help with regards to your other questions as they are outside of my wheelhouse.

Sgt John Steinmeier -Thanks; that's actually not a bad price point considering other options. Hate the "cool" stuff is still priced like it's made of solid gold LOL. I'm guessing one of these days, "Bubba's" going to figure something out with a $10 laser pointer and a piece cut out of a old TV set, but until then...

Well-sort of had my question "answered" in a different way...sounds like no hunting on Nods unless you want to talk to the boys from TWRA. I'll just go over here and slap myself for imitating a brand new butter bar and "imagine" what it would be like to surprise the pee out of some coyotes. Hey-at least it saves me some $$$.

Hunting Coyotes in Nevada, I'd say probably pretty good. Big Game, NIL.
