Shannon Modisette Nothing beats a letter from home. As mentioned by SGT Philip Roncari, Kool-Aid sure helped the taste of the water. Plastic always came in handy to try and keep our items dry. I enjoyed receiving paperback books, because I always carried one in my pack.

We send a lot of different water and coffee packets - that's one of those things we've definitely heard is anything to help mask the taste of the water. Thanks for the feedback!

My tour( deployment) was October 1966/July 1967 RVN and our favorite item by far was letters from home, followed by cookies, sweets any other treats not damaged by rough handling and heat, one especially prized was Koolaid packages used to mask the taste of the local water we had to treat with Halizon tabs.

One of the cornerstones of our boxes are cookies and protein bars - plus a lot of water and coffee packets. Thank you so much for the feedback!
