Obviously any mistakes made can be costly but nuclear is far more reliable. I see this as a good transition until we master green energy

Nuclear is reliable. The weakness is disposing of waste. I believe there was to be a main national waste site in one of the dessert states. If memory serves me fight after much research and development the state pulled out.

Yucca mountain in Nevada was the original place for a national storage location but was scuttled due to local opposition and politics. The Federal government had been collecting funds for that national location. Because it was killed, the government now pays the individual companies to store their own waste product. Given all the initial work done to choose Yucca mountain. That remains the best choice as far as I am concerned

Nuclear is much more efficient and dependable. The tree huggers for some reason want us to tear apart the forests so we can put up wind turbines and solar panels that only work some of the time. I'm not getting that part of the whole argument.

The reason you're not getting that part of argument is because the people supporting wind and solar don't know what there're talking about.

Certainly not as safe or renewable as solar, wind, geothermal, etc. Besides, what do you do with the cores when they are spent? Can't just throw them in a landfill.

The same thing you do with turbine blades.

Sgt (Join to see) - To be honest, I don't know what happens to turbine blades when they wear out.
