How do you carry? FYI as you get older that holster you've used for years, might not be the right one for you now.

Normally a IWB in Alien Gear holster. OWB if working on property. Blackhawk if carrying semiautomatic or leather holster with thumb snap with revolver.

For me its about variety of clothing as I'm either in IL or FL. I need something that works for both environments - IWB leather with or without a thumb break works well. I think one thing that's important is to establish some clothing norms as that is as well the other half of the battle - dressing in a way to avoid printing.

Interesting article, they did fail to throw in the Holster T-Shirt. Not the best for rapid access, but if you need to wear a deep cover weapon, it works well, especially if you are also wearing a vest, sport coat or such.
Since I have different needs for different levels of carry, I have a number of different holsters. I never carry without some sort of retention and when I use the T-shirt holster I do not carry a round chambered.

I wear a leather belt holster and carry in the small of my back. My holster doesn't have any retention straps as the belt in my pants puts pressure against my weapon and holds it securely. Should I be looking for another holster? Y'all make it sound as if some retention snap, strap is a good thing.

SFC Jim Ruether not necessarily. I have an inside the waistband holster for my 38 with no retention except my belt. Never had an issue, same with my Alien Gear for my glock 30. The alien gear does allow me to set tension between the kydex, pistol and leather backing.
As long as you don't turn flips on the dance floor, you should be okay. My new Micah pocket holder doesn't have retention, but inside the pocket holster it doesn't move around. Again, I would avoid flips.
