New Independence fire chief shares plans for department, statistics from Fourth of July

James “Jimmy” Walker took the reigns of the Independence Fire Department in late June after working as the deputy fire chief in Kansas City.

Walker spoke to KCTV5 the day after the Fourth of July and shared a fireworks incident report, which included a few dumpsters catching fire after fireworks that were still hot were thrown away.
