Seems like another slap in the face. The military deserves a pay raise that would make them a little more comparable to the outside and rate of inflation.

Why does the military 'deserve' more - care to explain that ? Does that mean the folks drawing social security should have gotten something too...and folks drawing military retirement that got nada?
What about the fact that the average civilian merit raise was around 2% - and they don't have paid health benefits or a retirement plan that doesn't require contributions. A SFC makes a salary, including allowances (and the non-tax value of those benefits) plus health care that is above the national median income - and you aren't faced with rising health care costs, and you have a retirement system that doesn't require contributions - and as of right now, gives you 50% after 20 years (not a lot of civilian jobs have that)
"Deserved" ...no....So stop with the 'deserve' stuff - If you joined the service to be wealthy, you made a mistake, if you joined to serve your country, then whining about pay is unbecoming - if you didn't know the deal when you joined shame on you.

It's sad but life goes on. I have learned over the years to manage my money well and save enough out of my pay. I started the TSP right from basic and it is sitting pretty good now.
