Nothing like the feeling having “old slab sides” around when there’s bad guys in the neighborhood.carried one as a grenadier in Vietnam, never jammed once!

1911 is a decent weapon, but it has drawbacks along with .45 caliber competitors with potentially better performance

I am well aware of the limitations of the M1911 platform. I went to the Army and National Guard schools on building Match Grade M1911s. I own several M1911s. The military sent me to the Glock armorer's course in the mid 80s. I bought one of the early M21 Glocks in .45 ACP when they were first available for sale. I still own it plus a Glock M21 SF .

I don't have first-hand experience with the 1911, so I'm just going to comment on the man's first two reasons:

1. What is the optimal magazine capacity for a sidearm? 10 rounds? 15 rounds? I think his reasoning would be more understandable if he presented a standard to measure against in this regard.

2. I disagree with him about the safety lever. I think switching a safety lever to the off position should be muscle memory. If you're forgetting to switch the safety lever off when you're going to shoot, I think that's a sign you need to spend more time familiarizing yourself with the weapon.
