Can someone provide the process on how to obtain copies of my W-2s from 2022. I went from ADOS (1 year) into a IMA position which I did drill and attendance. It somehow messed my taxes from 2022. I need to get my 2022 W-2s but DFAS took out the records as of 12 DEC 2023. I went to DFAS and they don't list the proper process. Need if someone can provide the steps on obtaining W-2 copies from DFAS. Thanks.

If you just need the information and not the actual W-2, then you can log into your IRS account* and get the information from there (go to "Get Transcripts Online" -> select "Other" and then "Go" -> and the click on "2022" under "Wage & Income Transcript").

BTW - if anyone is ever looking for information that is reported to the IRS, you'll be able to access it here going back 10 years.

From what I found researching steps you can do:

To get an old W2 from DFAS, you can:

Call the Military Pay customer care center at [login to see] to request

Visit the DFAS tax statement website to request or view your tax statements2.

Use AskDFAS to request a W-2 reissue. Go to DFAS.mil, click on the AskDFAS link at the bottom of the page, scroll down to select Tax Statement Reissue Requests, then click on the Submit A Ticket button

This user is having trouble obtaining their 2022 W-2s from DFAS. They transitioned from active duty (ADOS) to a reserve position (IMA) in the same year, and believe it may be affecting their tax https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/academized-review-2023-actually-good-mary-walton situation. DFAS apparently removed their records as of December 2023. The user is looking for the specific steps to get copies of their W-2s from DFAS.
