I don't follow this man but I have seen a few things he has said. I would presume he either forgot that Trump is a Republican or he felt Trump was not a MAJOR Republican at the time. There was some doubt among the electorate whether Trump was really a Democrat or Republican. He has claimed to be both over time. There is nothing wrong with changing party affiliation in and of itself but it did lend some confusion about where he really stood

That is not the only thing this is about. He said there wasn't a single republican that challenged Obama's legitimacy.

I think on the merits Shipiro is correct. It wasn't the Republican Congress openly challenging Obama's Presidency it was Trump as a fringe politician at the time and to my knowledge his political affiliation at the time of the birtherism comments was still open to question he did not claim to be Republican until he officially filed for his campaign. When he did that it was another controversy, was Trump really a Republican or just claiming to be one in order to run on the Republican ticket. So there is a big difference here. Trump could be largely ignored by Obama while in office. Democratic Congress with all the BS about impeachment and lawsuits, etc is actually impeding the ability of the Trump administration to get things done and in a way is openly subverting and undermining a free and fair election that took place. Which won't really matter one way or another after 2020 election.

So with all of the evidence AGAINST shapiro's position, you say he is correct? OK.

1SG (Join to see) - Can't seem to remember anyone threatening to assinate President Obama openly, can't remember any Democratic Senators that got beat up on their front lawns based merely on their belief system (Rand Paul), Can't remember the entire Republican Party taking a stand that Obama was a criminal and there was undeniable evidence, etc. It's a false equivalency to say that the comments over Obama's Birth Certificate, which BTW, many Republicans denounced and said the controversy was BS vs the Democrats all acting in lockstep to undermine a past free and open election. Thats what I am saying. Historians will write the same.

SPC Erich Guenther There were roughly 18 open threats on Obamas life or his spouse's life in one case from 2008-until 2019. You probably just haven't researched that. Gabby Gifford was SHOT IN THE HEAD because the shooter believed women should not hold positions of power (selective memory?). Shapiro said there wasn't a single republican that challenged Obama's legitimacy. So you just confirmed my point by saying "many republicans denounced...". Again, shapiro said what he said and he was wrong.
