What the left should be harping about is the "cultural appropriation" that Warren used to advance her career. These days if you are not a native American and you dress like one for a costume party or Halloween the left will slam your for cultural appropriation. Warren used the technique to advance her career in academia by claiming a false status.
The left now wants to only talk about Trump calling her Pocahontas. The media is like the proverbial cat chasing the laser dot on the wall.
I agree Trump could have refrained from making the comment during the ceremony for the Marine Navaho Code Talkers but calling her Pocahontas is a reminder to the greater than thou left that there is a liar and cheat among them who loves to try to claim the moral high ground, all the time.

We do not have to like it, now we have the ability to open up more, but to get the point across, stay above the fray.

It's interesting to me that people on the left pop their collective mental corks over President Trump's use of the name Pocahontas, but don't seem to have any problem with Elizabeth Warren fraudulently assuming the identity of a native American for the purpose of getting a job at Harvard, a job that might otherwise have gone to a real native American. A job that was supposed to go to a real native American.
By the way, the name Pocahontas by itself is not a racial slur. If Trump had used it to refer to a native American woman, then yes, it would justifiably be construed as a racial slur. But he used it regarding a white woman. It was used in a sarcastic manner, and it was certainly intended to deride Senator Warren, but there wasn't a racial component to the insult.

SSgt Christopher Brose - First, any descendants of Pocahontas would not qualify as American Indian, you usually need to be at least 1/8th American Indian to qualify and none of her direct decedents married back into any American Indian tribe withing the next four generations. Having a Great Great Grandparent who was American Indian doesn't make you American Indian. Warren likely has some American Indian ancestry, just not enough to qualify her as American Indian.
Hundreds of years ago (based on DNA) one of my ancestors was American Indian as well, however that doesn't make me an American Indian.

SSG (Join to see) - If a descendant of Pocahontas doesn't qualify as American Indian, then Elizabeth Warren sure as hell doesn't. Someone who can trace her ancestry directly to Pocahontas certainly has a more relevant opinion about the use of her name than most, and if she's not offended by Trump using it referring to Warren, then the outrage by those calling it racist seems a little contrived.

SSgt Christopher Brose - Not really, being able to trace your ancestor to Pocahontas makes means you had an American Indian ancestor over four hundreds of years ago... Warren may not qualify as American Indian, however, given that Pocahontas lived over 400 years ago and her descendants married Europeans... it's likey Warren has more American Indian blood than any descendant of Pocahontas.

A "Prominent WHITE expert"? The HELL IS THAT??? I'm Black. I'm NOT a "Prominent African American expert". I'm pretty good American expert, but that doesn't qualify me to be an "expert" on White, Asian, Black, Brown, whatever to where I can decide what a racial slur is to someone else.
If someone of a particular descent believes that calling someone Pocahontas is a slur and can back it up with factual (it will also be emotional) data, it IS a racial slur and no one is in a position to say otherwise or excuse the behavior away. Redskins is the name of my football team. 1st Nations said it's racist, and as much as I love my team, the name IS racist after seeing how the context of it is used.

MSgt Danny Hope - I admit I'd be totally fine if they went back to the original name of the Braves. They were the Boston Braves, and the name changed once they moved. A point was made when they were being sued to Snyder how would he feel if someone named a team after a Jewish slur? Never got an answer, but he still won the trademark battle of technicalities and "buying" his way into favor with certain local tribes. That was a BS move on his part, but I support the team; the players themselves. He gets support by default being he owns it.
