COL Mikel J. Burroughs although this comes from my year I taught Computer Literacy in the Public School System, years later when I saw so many students gravitating towards education and careers involving computers, it did my heart proud.

As I Assume You Know, My Senor Year In School Was The 8th Grade.
Educated Through The Multitude Of Programs Available In The USAF --
While Employed In The Printing Dept -- I WAS The Dept-- I Was Offered A
Teaching Position In One Of The New Tech Schools And I Turned It Down FLAT.
I Think I'd Like Teaching, But Not Being Told How To Teach, What To Teach, And Made To Follow A Curriculum. Teaching Might Be Fun But Dealing With The Administration Is A Pain In Diaz, And I Was Already Making A Better Income Than A 1st Year Teacher -- In Short:
SCREW THAT!-- And Let Me Add: My Work Hours Were "Flex"; So Long As I Was Caught Up On The Printing, I Could Come And Go At My Leisure. And Due To My Years In The Printing Business I Could Coordinate All The Equipment To Run Simultaneously And Turn A "Work Day" Into 2 Or 3 Hours, MAX.- But Most Of The Spare Time I Spent In The Outside Break Areas Having A Smoke And Coffee With The Teachers As They Came In Then Returned To Their Classes -- And I Should TEACH? --- Are You NUTS?

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney well yes, there were North Carolina Department of Education Guidelines that I was required to follow. I adhered to the guidelines. However, I added a little creativity that skirted the border. In short, the school earned a 90% success State EOG Score where in previous years the score was as low as 34%. I loved teaching. I could not be an excellent teacher and an excellent mother to a 13 year old.
