Way too many service members killed in motorcycle accidents. Many are just back from deployment.

Having been a Div motorcycle safety officer, BN and CO motorcycle safety guy, trained and certified to teach folks to ride under both Tx law and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Im reasonable familiar with the how and why Service members crash, get hurt and sometimes die...

And I'll say with some certainty most times it is self induced.. be it alcohol, speed, or lack of training that caused them to not perceive and recognize, then avoid the event in front of them.
Yup even the often blamed left turning car, it may be the car drives fault, but its the riders responsibility and almost all crashes are foreseeable , preventable and avoidable.
Most folks would not go hang gliding or parachute jumping with safety gear and training, nor would they do either hammered or at the edge of the performance envelope when they start out... Yet that is what SM riders often do.
I don't know much about this crash, nor the other 4 Navy folks that went down in the last month, as Im out of the Safety Center loop these days. But many years of first hand experience says 4 out of the 5 deaths were avoidable.....and likely the 5th as well.
