Donald Trump is campaigning an immigration war, multiple incidences of alleged cop abuse against minorities, and the lowering of the Confederate flag in South Carolina due to the recent mass killing at a prominent southern church which is predominantly patronized by the African-American community. Racial divisiveness stories have dominated national and local media outlets and our military population is extremely diverse in race, religious and color groups that work together in high stress and fast-paced operational environments.

Politics have never had a place in the workplace. I'd like to think that most people in this organization are smart enough to keep their personal opinions on these highly controversial issues to themselves.

MSG (Join to see) The racial tensions have had no impact on my military duties. I see the biggest impact as the 'normal' party name calling that seems to be routine. As leaders our job is to keep putting emphasis on those attributes that highlight how we work together, not drive society apart.

LTC John Shaw, I am glad to hear that, sir. When I was in we had severe race problems that came in from the civilian culture. There were even race riots on an Army base (Marble Mountain) just south of Da Nang when I was on Monkey Mountain just east of Da Nang. The AF didn't have as much of a problem, but we still had black troops that segregated themselves off from the rest of us, even in a large mixed group.

But then, the military was pretty much broken in the latter years of the war.
